In the Atlanta area, they would buy it (the Santa Fe) back for peanuts and then resell it for $49,000. Is this happening in your area too? Used cars cost even more than new ones?

That sucks and cool new vehicle. I was wondering what ever came of the Gladiator, thinking there was gonna be a update video one day. Too bad you can't just buy it back really cheap and do a Hoovies Saves video and build up the drive train and suspension like the other off-road vehicles you've had.

Hyundais are great cars. It's the dealers that suck. My brother and his g/f, after months of research and looking at new Tuscons at various dealers, found the one she liked. They put $1K down as a hold. When they returned to close the deal, the dealer wanted an additional $6K over the agreed-to price!!. Obviously, brother said hell no and walked out. While I'm here, lemme put the dealer on blast. WEBB HYUNDAI IN HIGHLAND, INDIANA LIKES TO PLAY STUPID GAMES. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!

Glad Hoovie was praising Hyundai. People would laugh when I told them I had a Hyundai. Well my 2019 Sonata Limited with the Ultimate package probably has more features than a few years older well equipped luxury cars. Still has more features than some new cars from other brands. Plus can’t beat the warranties!

Parts availability or not, that should not and does not total out a vehicle... For one.... For two, the axles are not unique to that vehicle! Try doing a little research!! They use those same assemblies on over 20 vehicles around the world.

Yeah part supply is becoming a huge issue but I think they're doing it on purpose. They want to drive up the price to recoup what they lost in 2020 because the demand will be so high but the supply purposely low so the price can skyrocket. I think the apex for cars being both safe and reliable was the early 2000s especially early 2000s Toyotas. Now they've become so overly gizmoed that they can't even be made because of a chip shortage then when stuff needs to be replaced the parts are non existent.

My wife has a 2020 Palisade, we bought it just before the pandemic. I'm amazed how nice it is. As Car & Driver (or maybe Road & Track?) said, Hyundai could have put a Genesis badge on it and charged another $20,000. Despite being roughly the size of a Greyhound Bus and having a normally-aspirated V6, it's faster and gets much better gas mileage than the Ford Edge with a twin-turbo 4 she traded in.

It's always been a problem for Chrysler products. Chrysler actually hold the patents on the parts, especially chassis parts. Which also leads to Chrysler having a lot higger prices in the aftermarket. Thats why the 90's and earlier amc designed jeeps are so desirable.

I owned a 1991 Sonata, it was 14 years old when I bought it, thing was a nearly indestructible brute. I sold it after I burned all the coolant off and melted the lacquer on the alternator wires after I'd taken a side road off a dirt road and picked the wrong side of the ruts and bottomed it out on the frame. The guy that bought it from me replaced the alternator and drove it for several more months until a delivery van rear ended it. After that I heard it was put in a frame machine and put back on the road but I lost track of it after that. I loved that car so much I bought a 2000 Sonata with 30,000km driven by a grandpa in 2005. Their flagship cars have always been solid and classy, mostly competing with the Toyota Camry, but the difference between the base model Sonata and the top end is like the difference between a Corolla and a Lexus......

And this is what life looks like when corporations get to diminish our right to repair... Everything is disposable because the manufacturer doesn't make as much money repairing your car so they will make buying a new one the only feasible option. They are literally doing this in every consumer market these days from phones TV's and computers to $100k vehicles to million dollar yachts. If this issue is something you feel some type a way about please check out Louis Rossmann's channel and keep an eye out on your state/local govt and sorry the right to repair bills when they come up! They are literally trying to prevent us from ever owning *ANYTHING* and turn is all into renters who pay far too much for the "privilege"

Brascofarian
Brascofarian 20 päeva tagasi
You don't understand the parts availability? Let me explain. If the car is totaled it means a new one needs to be bought at the insurance company's expense, the cost of this inefficiency being absorbed into everyone's premiums. It basically allows them to sell more new cars, and makes it harder for people to maintain their older cars too. It also makes insurance more expensive. It honestly seems to me that the car industry hates drivers.

Hoovies, in most countries especially Europe the laws require a brand/dealership to carry stock of parts for 7 years after a model is discontinued. Ford is notoriously bad for this. Mercedes-Benz are amazingly Go0d with this. With infinity consider Nissans situation and how long the Q45 has been out of production. But currently with COVID-19 and manufacturing, there has been massive supply issues.

I heard about cars being totaled out for part availability, so there is going to be a decent percentage of cars out there with branded titles for only having a low percentage of their value damaged? That’s crazy to me, someone will get a steal of a deal just to wait for parts.

I'm glad you are realistic about the electric car. VW had a brilliant ad campaign in the 1960's espousing the logic of "less is more." The ad goes: This is what you don't get when you buy an air cooled VW: no radiator, no driveshaft, etc. The same goes for electric cars. Range anxiety aside and used battery disposal aside, there are alot of advantages to the electric car. Less moving parts, quicker, better handling because of a low center of gravity, quieter, and don't forget the biggie: better for the environment.

Hyundai is killing it, I’m on my fourth Hyundai, a 2019 Sonata Limited, only option it doesn’t have is the turbo 2.0L. My last one was a 2007 Trajet Gold, a 9-passenger MPV the size of a modern CR-V, it had a 2.0L turbodiesel 4-cylinder that runs like a top till this day (I hope, I feel like they guy I sold it to is taking care of it tho). That thing was slow but ultra reliable. Too slow for North America, it was never sold here, only Asia and Europe. Maybe Australia, idk tho. My 2011 Sonata Limited ran great but had a noisy suspension and engine, I think my timing chain was rattling, but at 159k miles it ran fine. My 2013 Santa Fe Sport was too new, we sold it after only a few months bc my wife got pregnant with our third while our other two were still in car seats.

One thing to mention, whenever there's a new car design or a slight modification to an existing design or chassis, etc. and it falls within 3 - 5 years old range, chances are high for it to be totaled out. A front fender might cost over $1,200.00 new with a new car. After 5 years, the value of that same fender usually goes down and you could get it from either OEM or save even more money and get it from a wreck yard. In this situation, I would've bought it back from the insurance company if they gave me good deal on it. Determining how many miles on it and blue book value, I would offer them 25% - 35% of the blue book price. Then take extensive pictures of the damage so after you get it repaired, you can show the next future potential buyer of the car what it looked like from that minor accident and explain why the vehicle comes with a salvage title and why the price is cheaper. In my guesstimation, there could of been about $7,000 - $10,000 profit. People love Jeeps and one for a bargain :)
