Please please! If you ever sell it please let me know. I have always wanted this truck! I envy you.

So... Did he "pay out the nose for it" or did he "get it for less than a 15-year-old Tacoma with 200k mi"? A 15-year-old Tacoma with 200k mi is going to cost you around 4-5 Grand depending on condition.

Had a 98 Dakota Sport with the 318 for 10 years and finally sad goodbye to it this last year. Loads of fun, always felt like a go kart. Never could find that RT

@Dabnis Brickey the guy that I took it to said that it is a common problem on those engines because the oil pan is too shallow.

@Carson Williams my dad bought a 2000 dakota sport with the 3.9 brand new in 2000. It had 230,000 miles on it when he died in 2019. Original engine. Im not sure what went wrong with yours

Very cool to see take the time on this truck I agree much over looked . I own a 01 Dakota quad cab with the 4.7 that I factory ordered in oct of 2000 . I have the rt wheels on it and it has been my daily driver since currently 140k yes lots of work has been done but I still love it the power and handling still makes me smile and it surprises many at stop light . In there day this gen Dakota was the king of the hill . I agree the 4.7 is one of there better engines and actually selected it over the 5.2 and 5.9 for it's design and better mpg the difference in performance was not that much vs the 5.9 . Great review

LOL, I can remember having a customer bring one of these to us. It looked exactly like this, but the owner was modifying it for drag racing back in the early 2000's. It actually had a flowmaster single exhaust that was an actual dealer option I was told. The owner had us delete the catalytic converter and it sounded like a muscle car afterwards. It was a fun truck and it did well at the drag strips in the early 2000's

Similar story had a 1999 Dakota Sport 5.2 318 little lift kit had 33 12.50 all terrain msd box. Black with the red badges. Ran the hell out of it for 3 years. My buddy bought a 2001 Dakota 5.9 r/t ext cab light blue. And my bro had 2001 Durango R/T. His best friend still has that. I traded my dakota for the all new hemi ram 1500 in Atlantic blue on 20’s . That ran good too. Single cab short bed 4x4. My dakota was extended cab btw

"I wanted to be financially secure, but I bought a Lambo..." In the background are a Benz, Ferrari, Bentley, etc. Ummm. I think you're ok. 🙄 BTW, the Dakota was considered a mid-size pickup, not a mini. I know because I used to sell them. At about 5:43 he says, "I'm a complete moron." I couldn't agree more. Not because he bought the Dakota R/T, but reference the comment above and his general dorky nature. And yet, 1.24M subscribers. WTH?!?! Is everyone really THIS bored? This is Doug Demuro all over again. Some poser that doesn't really know anything cars and yet has a bunch of money to buy them. This world is upside down. Well, for those of us that ARE actually trying to gain financial security... back to the real world and my real job.

That's the same 5.9L Magnum V8 that was featured in the Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ 1998 Limited which was the fastest SUV in the world at that time. I have the 5.2L 318 magnum V8 (which was basically the carbon copy of the 5.9, with some minor tweaks) in my ZJ and it's still a blast to drive. The torque is insane coming from a 28yr old Jeep. I love it, best engine ever made.

The s10 extreme I have was just over 24k new. Mine isn't nearly as clean as that dodge but it's a rust free florida truck . The bed is as nice as your dodge it's the best looking part of the truck. I also have an 04 dodge dakota crew cab mint condition I'll agree the dodges are hard to find it took a long time to find mine everything I looked at was a rust bucket shined up with a premium price. I can't believe that guy purchased that truck never drove it and I'm assuming sold it at a big loss. That truck probably books out at something like 8k now and he paid 21 what a bone head.

I have a 98 RT and a 94 Sport with the 5.2. I run 275/50 17 tires on the RT. Even they are hard or impossible to get now. I worked for Dodge as a tech from 1992 - 1998. The 1993 sport with a 5.2 was the fastest of the bone stock Dakotas. In 1994 they reduced the size of the exhaust manifolds and started rating the hp at the flywheel. I still remember doing pre delivery inspections on the new 93 models. At 45 they would light up when you crammed down on them ;-) One customer kept coming back complaining he couldn't keep the azz end on the ground and engine surging. The surging wound up being the rev limiter kicking in at 6500. :-0
